mini mkv anime

Saki On
Hello to everyone who frequently visits on this blog.

Once again, as AnimeShoko is constantly seeking ways to revolutionize our anime releases, we're going to have another change in our encodes.

It has been decided that our next releases will be mini-mkv in Hi10p format, for better quality.

The fansub team Ryuumaru have a neat guide on Hi10p FAQs - Click Here
Project Haruhi have a guide on how to play Hi10p videos, in case you encounter problems. - Click Here

This might seem inconvenient for some people, but I want to insist on everyone to at least even try this video format. I'll be uploading the next release for our mini-mkv soon. But let's take note about how we'll apply this technological advancement:
  • All releases from the day I post this announcement, January 13, 2012 | 1 AM, GMT +8 (Taipei), will be in Hi10p profile, mpeg4 h264 video, AAC audio.
  • Completed Anime releases before the said date will not be re-encoded into Hi10p. (Unless I found some spare time which is next to impossible, or found additional manpower)
  • All ongoing series for this season, Winter 2012, which have been released already in 8-bit format, are to be halted. AnimeShoko will not be encoding ongoing TV-rip releases as of now, to focus on the already released Blu-ray and DVD of other anime series. (however, they may be some exceptions)

BTW, Since I use Windows OS, I recommend downloading either of two MPC-HC codec packs: K-Lite Codec Pack and CCCP Player. VLC have finally updated to the latest Hi10p and Segmented Chapter playback, so you can also just update/download it if you prefer. IDK about other OS, but if anyone have more info to share, feel free to comment here and contribute some tuts.

Thank you for understanding, and may everyone enjoy the new format to be released.
